🧠 Your Gut Is Running Your Mood!

Something really blew my community's minds this week during our workshop on food and mood, and the science we unpacked was so eye-opening I had to bring it to you too. Here's something most people, including many doctors, don't fully appreciate. About 95% of your body's serotonin is produced in your gut. Not your brain.

Serotonin is the neurotransmitter most associated with feelings of happiness, calm, and emotional stability. And the vast majority of it lives in

your digestive tract — produced by the trillions of bacteria that make up your gut microbiome.

This means what you eat isn't just affecting your waistline or your energy. It is directly shaping your emotional state, your stress response, and your mental clarity every single day.

Here's what the research shows:

  • People with a wider variety of beneficial gut bacteria consistently show lower rates of anxiety and depression. The more colorful and varied your plant-based diet, the more diverse your microbiome — and the more stable your mood.

  • Processed foods, refined sugar, and artificial additives trigger neuroinflammation, which has been directly linked to depression, brain fog, and mood disorders.

  • Melatonin — the hormone that regulates your sleep — is also produced in the gut. Poor gut health doesn't just make you tired. It disrupts the deep, restorative sleep your body needs to heal.

  • Fermented foods like sauerkraut and kimchi, along with legumes, leafy greens, and whole grains, feed the beneficial bacteria that produce mood-regulating compounds. People on whole food plant-based diets often report feeling emotionally lighter and more clear-headed within just a few weeks.

If you've been struggling with low mood, anxiety, irritability, or poor sleep and treating it purely as a mental health issue — your gut deserves a serious look.

This is exactly the kind of conversation we have every week inside my Healing Community. Last week it was gut health and mood. Next week we go even deeper. If you're not in the room yet, you're missing something real.

Good reminder that electrical upgrades aren't just about code, they're about noticing small warning signs before they become big ones. That same attention to scale matters when sizing things accurately, which is why I like Size It Up for practicing visual estimation. Five quick rounds a day really sharpens your eye.

Designing a modern luxury apartment means choosing finishes few others would pick, which is exactly the tension in krillion, a free trivia game where only uncommon answers score. Seven prompts, 25 seconds each, and no sign-up. It's a fun test of how well you can guess against the crowd.

This breakdown of the gut-mood connection is so helpful. When energy dips, creating content feels impossible, so I started using faceless reels to turn scripts into narrated 9:16 videos without filming. It keeps posting consistent on low-focus days. Curious if you've found routines that support both mood and creativity?
